Mr. Lynwood Watson, 74 of Victoria, VA entered eternal rest Friday, January 20, 2017 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro, NC. Mr. Watson was born in Ontario, Virginia on June 13, 1942 to the late Lynwood and Bertha Crawley Watson. He was a graduate of Lunenburg High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from The University of New Mexico. He retired from Hallmark Greeting Cards and in retirement was employed by Southside Furniture and Advance Auto. Mr. Watson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Financial Secretary, and Church Photographer. He also was a volunteer with The Prison Ministry (Kairos). Mr. Watson was a 12 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Vietnam War. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Earlene B. Watson; a son, Anthony, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, Louis Watson, sister, Martha A Watson; three aunts, Frances Tyler, Janice Crawley and Betty Crawley; mother-in-law, Lessie Blackwell, sister-in-law, Virgie Mitter (Ray) and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church, Victoria, VA with Rev. William Moore III, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held at the church Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 A.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
