Luvenia Andrews Lewis

Mrs. Luvenia Andrews Lewis 83, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Monday, May 4, 2009 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Lewis was born December 4, 1925 to the late Richard and Irene Walker Andrews Sr. She was a graduate of Thyne Institute, Chase City, VA. Mrs. Lewis retired from the Mecklenburg County School System and was the former owner of Tisdale’s Deluxe Cleaners. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess and a member of the usher board. She was one of the founding members of the Thynite Club.   Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James A. Lewis Sr.; one sister, Drucilla Allen and two brothers, Russell Walker Sr. and Richard Andrews Jr.   Cherishing her memories are two children, James Alexander Lewis Jr. of Vauxhall, NJ and Kathy Lewis Early (Robert) of Chase City, VA; four grandchildren, three sisters, Earnestine C. Toombes of NJ, Joyce M. Peaks and Elsie M. Hatcher (Robert) all of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.   Funeral services for Mrs. Luvenia Andrews Lewis will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Robert Winfree officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home.    Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
