Lucy Simmons

Mrs. Lucy Simmons, 81, of Fort Lauderdale, FL entered eternal rest on February 27, 2024.

Mrs. Simmons was born on December 3, 1942 to the late Roy Hepburn and Martha Dailey. She graduated from PS 24 High School, Class of 1955. She continued her education at Fordham University in Bronx, NY, and worked as a secretary at the Teen Center in Yonkers, NY before embarking on a career as a domestic worker in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She served as an Usher at Holy Redeemer Church in Fort Lauderdale.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Simmons, Sr.; son, Robert Simmons, Jr.; brothers, Roy Jr. Hepburn and Walter Hepburn; sister, Shirly Mae Russell; and brother-in-law, Samuel “Hank” Pettus, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Audrey Hepburn and Eric Cobb; grandchildren, Ebony Tyree and Keiandre (Janet) Hepburn; great-grandchildren, Jade Hepburn and Deiandre Hepburn; God-son, Jay’Quan Hodges; sister, Geneva Pettus; sisters-in-law, Eloise Hepburn and Barbara Hepburn; brother-in-law, Ralph Russell; devoted aunt, Alice Dunn, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Simmons will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City with Pastor Linda Goode officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City. Public viewing will begin on Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M.
