Lucy Grey Long Chambers

Mrs. Lucy Grey Long Chambers, 93, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Chase City Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Chambers was born in Mecklenburg County, VA February 2, 1917 to the late George Sr. and Lucy Valentine Long. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA and was a retiree of Bethlehem Steel in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to her parents Mrs. Chambers was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Chambers, four brothers, Tom, Howard, George, Jr. and Mayo Long; three sisters, Margaret Brown, Florence Hawthorne and Alice Long. Cherishing her memories are two sisters-in-law, Christine and Claudia Long both of Chase City, VA; devoted niece, Mrs. Mildred Smith of Broadnax, VA; cousins Gladys Goldback of Philadelphia, PA and Margaret Brown of Richmond, VA; caregivers, Sandra Freeman, Margaretta Long and the staff of Chase City Nursing and Rehabilitation and a vast number of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Grey Long Chambers will be conducted 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode, officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Mrs. Long may be viewed Wednesday only from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
