Lucille Harris Smith

Mrs. Lucille Harris Smith, 84, of Skipwith, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Berry Hill Nursing Home, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Smith was born in Skipwith, VA October 27, 1927 to the late Graham Sr. and Ethel Ligon Harris. She was a graduate of Thyne Institute, Chase City, VA and a member of Bluestone Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA. There she was a Deaconess, member of the Missionaries, Choir, Adult Sunday School Teacher and a Vacation Bible School Instructor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Cherishing her memories are her husband of 64 years, Hayes Smith, Sr., two sons, Hayes Smith, Jr. (Gale) of Glen Allen, VA and Chris Steven Smith of Newport News, VA; three grandchildren, Trimelle Proctor, Steven Smith and Emma Smith; one sister, Dorothy Fuller of Chase City, VA; one brother, Harvey Harris of Skipwith, VA; four sisters-in-law, Ethel Harris, Dorothy Smith, Elizabeth Smith and Margaret Smith, one brother-in-law, Willis Smith and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Harris Smith will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Bluestone Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Lawrence Wilkerson, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
