Loretta Hayes Walker

Mrs. Loretta Hayes Walker, 67 of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, May 6, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Walker was born in Mecklenburg County, VA October 12, 1948 to the late Thomas and Mamie Oliver Hayes. She was a 1967 graduate of West End High School, she furthered her education at Saint Paul’s College, Lawrenceville, VA where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Mrs. Walker was an elementary School teacher in both Mecklenburg and Brunswick Counties. She was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church where she was an active missionary. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie George Walker, Sr.,one son, Eddie George Walker, Jr.  and one sister, Ida Mae Hayes. Cherishing her memories are two daughters, Thomasina Walker and Ida Walker; four grandchildren; a very devoted friend, Clarence Burwell: four brothers, Junious Hayes, Matthew T. Hayes, Donald K. Hayes (Sandra) and Ronald C. Hayes (Valerie); four sisters, Rev. Rosa Smith, Fannie White, Corine Hayes and Irene Simmons (Clyde);  and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Loretta Hayes Walker will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 13, 2016 at Lone Oak Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Freddie Terry delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Services 11:00 A.M.
