Lois Dorecia Cook

Miss Lois Dorecia Cook, 81, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Clarksville Health and Rehab Center, Clarksville, VA. Miss Cook was born in Clarksville, VA on July 3, 1940 to the late Harold and Victoria Shields Cook. She received her education in the Mecklenburg County Schools, graduating in 1958. She received her nursing degree from Rutgers College in Newark, NJ, and was formerly employed by Mountainside Hospital in Bloomfield, NJ, retiring after 40 years of service. Miss Cook was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Orange, NJ, and later attended St. John Baptist Church after relocating back to Clarksville. She loved children and helping people. In addition to her parents, Miss Cook was preceded in death by her siblings, Rosa V. Williams, Fletcher Cook, Amy Ray and Harold Cook. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Michael Cook of Georgia; grandchildren, Tia D. Cook of North Carolina and Michael A. Sykes of Georgia; two sisters, Bettie Terry (Charles) of Buffalo Junction, VA and Judith Gerald (Chalmer) of Tacoma, WA; sister-in-law, Ella Cook of Clarksville, VA; two special nieces, Deborah Copeland and Candice Burke both of McDonough, NY, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services with limited seating of 50 for Miss Lois Dorecia Cook will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 12, 2021 at C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Glenn Faulkner officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
