Linda Lee Leak

Ms. Linda Lee Leak, 81, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at her residence. Ms. Leak was born in Vauxhall, NJ on November 19, 1938 to the late Sylvester (Jake) and Mary Noel Snell. She was a graduate of Union High School, Union, NJ, earning her BA in Psychology from Bloomfield College, Bloomfield, NJ. Ms. Leak was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Vauxhall, NJ for 52 years where she dutifully served in the role of church secretary, and additionally tutored the neighborhood children in foundational studies of Math, Science, Social Studies and English. She retired from Bell Communications Research as a Manager of Job Evaluation after 34 years of service. In 1996, Ms. Leak relocated to Boydton, Virginia, and joined Sharon Baptist Church, South Hill, VA. Upon her job retirement, she became a Special Education Teacher for Park View High School for 3 years, and additionally substituted at various locations for Mecklenburg County Schools. She was President of the AARP South Hill Chapter for many years, and a member of Mecklenburg Triad Group and Tri-County Agency. She was awarded many certificates and awards for her diligence and commitment to the advancement of the population of Mecklenburg County. In addition to her parents, Ms. Leak was preceded in death by a sister, Dot. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Ila of Boydton, VA; son, Tyrone (Valerie) of Plainfield, NJ; grandchildren, Jason of Vauxhall, NJ and Chelsea of South Ozone Park, NY; great grandson, Domenick; a nephew she raised as a son, Rodney of Matawan, NJ; son-in-law, Fielder Liggon of South Hill, VA; sister, Shirley Rustin of New York; nephew, Marshall (Tanya) of Moseley, VA; best friend, Carol Bolding and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Due to the mandates from Governor Ralph Northam, a private graveside service was conducted Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Sharon Baptist Church, South Hill, VA with Rev. Elton R. Buffaloe delivering the eulogy . Public viewing was held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
