Lillie Mae Watson Mayo

Mrs. Lillie Mae Watson Mayo, 97, of Wylliesburg, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Sentara Woodview, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Mayo was born in Charlotte County, VA on April 10, 1918 to the late Willie and Millie Brooks Watson.  She attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA and at an early age joined Salem Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA, later joining First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA.  She was a member of the Household of Ruth and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Mayo; one son, Emmanuel Watson; six sisters and six brothers. Cherishing her memories are three children, Florence Staten and  Ella Moore (Earl) both of Wylliesburg, VA and Thomas Watson of Chase City, VA; twenty grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; twenty great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Estelle Watson; two daughters-in-law, Mary Jane and Dorothy Watson and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Mae Watson Mayo will be conducted 1:00 P.M., Monday, March 7, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA with Rev. Opie Terrell, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Public viewing will be held on Sunday from 12:00 noon until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
