Mrs. Lila Virginia Wardrick Redding, 91, of East Orange, NJ and formerly of Chase City, VA, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Mrs. Redding was born in Chase City, VA on September 10, 1930 to the late Willie Otis Lewis and Lucy Minnette Daves, the 8th of 15 children. On August 28, 1948 she married George Lenward Wardrick, Sr. and relocated to New Jersey, and this union was blessed with two sons. She later married Rev. L.C. Redding, founder and pastor of Spiritual Way Baptist Church. She took pride in her duties as First Lady, and was active in her church for 29 years, as God was her first priority. She loved her family, and in her spare time enjoyed bingo and card games. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both husbands, George L. Wardrick, Sr. and Rev. L. C. Reddin; and ten siblings, William Lewis, James Lewis, Francis Robinson, Alease Ogburn, Otis Lewis, Elizabeth Brooks, Douglass Lewis, Theodore Lewis, Maynard Lewis and Grace Wade. She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, George Lenward Wardrick, Jr. and Jerry Lee Wardrick; 8 grandchildren, Bernard, Chauncey, Lila, Travis, John, Ayleia, Brigette and Jerica; 16 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; four siblings, Nettie Jones, Mary Pulliam, Joe Lewis and Dorsey Lewis, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside Services for Mrs. Lila Virginia Wardrick Redding will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 24, 2021 at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA with Elder Kenyatta Evans officiaitng. Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
