Deacon Lewis Waverly Oliver, 85, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at Berry Hill Nursing Home, South Boston, VA. Deacon Oliver was born in Mecklenburg County, VA March 26, 1920 to the late Lewis M. and Etha Doggett Oliver. He was a member of Bluestone Baptist Church, Chase City, VA, a WWII and Korean War Veteran and a retired farmer. Deacon Oliver was preceded in death by three brothers, and four sisters. Cherishing his memories is his wife, Minnie Alice Oliver of Chase City, VA; five sons, Louis Russell Oliver, Chase City, VA, Irvin W. Oliver (Sheena) of Danville, VA Gordon W. Oliver (Dorothy) of Chesterfield, VA, David L. Oliver, Vienna, VA and Milton D. Oliver (Harriet) of Huntsville, AL; two daughters, Nellie M. James (Roland) of Roxboro, NC and Anne E. Oliver of Charlottesville, VA; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Lena Walker of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Deacon Lewis Waverly Oliver will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Sunday, January 29, 2006 at Bluestone Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. with Rev. Lawrence Wilkerson, officiating.
