Lewis Matthew Harvey

Mr. Lewis Matthew Harvey, 81, of South Hill, VA entered eternal rest Friday, January 28, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Harvey was born in Ardmore, PA October 13, 1929 to the late Lewis P. and Nancy Elizabeth Walker Harvey. He attended the schools of Ardmore, PA, was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. He also was a member of VFW Post 7166 of South Hill, VA, the South Hill Chapter of AARP and the South Hill American Legion. He was a retiree of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam and Korean Wars. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Mrs. Pauline B. Harvey of South Hill, VA; one daughter, Simone E. Harvey–Olivieri of Pemberton, NJ; three step-children, Joan B. Harrison (John) of Adelphi, MD, Paula Thompson (Larry) of Richmond, VA and John P. Bowers Jr. (Rhetta) of Rowlette, TX; five step-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lucille Patterson of Durham, NC and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Lewis Matthew Harvey will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 4, 2011 at Lone Oak Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Freddie Terry, Jr. officiating. Burial will full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
