Leroy Whitehead

Mr. Leroy Whitehead, 71, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest Monday, March 17, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA Mr. Whitehead was born in Charlotte County, VA Oct. 24, 1942 to the late James and Mary Whitehead. He received his education in the Charlotte County Schools and was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA. Mr. Whitehead was employed at J.R. Tharpe Trucking of Burkeville, VA for 28 years until retiring in 2011. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Whitehead and one sister, Lula Brooks. Cherishing his memories are his wife of 46 years, Barbara Whitehead; one daughter, Marilyn Morton of Saxe, VA; granddaughter, Radiance Pulliam (Desmond); great-granddaughter, Arlana Pulliam; one brother, George Whitehead; four sisters, Brenda Cottman (Richard), Ida Brown (Ernest) Juanita Whitehead and Mary Ann Whitehead all of Richmond, VA; three sisters-in-law, Johnette Staten, Ozelia Olushola, and Creola Hundley;  two special nephews, Tyrone Staten and Andre Pulliam of Richmond, VA; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Leroy Whitehead will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 21, 2014 at Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA with Rev. Dr. James E. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends, Thursday, 10:00A.M. Until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Service 2:00 P.M.
