Mr. Leonard Hilliard III, 35, of Buffalo Junction, VA entered eternal rest Friday, March 12, 2010 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Hilliard was born in Corona, NY, February 24, 1975 to Leonard Jr. and Alice Burwell Hilliard. He attended Bluestone Senior High School, Skipwith, VA and was a member of Evangelistic Church of Christ, Queens, NY. Cherishing his memories are three sons, Devonte Greene of Norcross GA, Jemal Hilliard and Kavon Hilliard of Winston Salem, NC; one daughter, Amiracle Hilliard ; his mother, Minister Alice Hilliard of Winston Salem, NC; his father and step-mother Leonard and Jacqueline Hilliard of Clarkton, NC; one brother Master Sgt. Bobby A. Brooks of Brandywine MD; one sister, Nicole Terry of Buffalo Jct., VA; 15 aunts: Evangelist Mary Harrison (Gillis) of Littleton, NC, Rosa Newton, Nannie Smith, and Blanch Hilliard all of Clarksville, Dorothy Hilliard and Mattie Hilliard of South Boston, VA, Brenda Burwell, Mildred Gregory (Tony), and Lillie Terry (Eugene) all of Buffalo Jct. VA, Frances Pettaway (John) of Nelson, VA, Doris McIntrye, and Mary Cromartie both of Wilmington, NC, Myrtle Cody (John) of Leland, NC, Thedosia Beatty (Gene) of Council, NC, and Miriam Cromartie of Bellflower, CA; four uncles, Jerry Hilliard of Clarksville, VA, John Cromartie (Leona), Rudolph Cromartie of Council, NC, Carl Cromartie (Porchia) of Baltimore MD, a host of nieces and nephews, a cherished cousin Samantha Terry, his best friend Jermaine Terry, and a very special friend Laquita Bullock and a vast number of other loving relative and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Leonard Hilliard III will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Saint John Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Charles Sands, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
