Mrs. Leona Bacon Johnson, 85, affectionately known as “Teddy”, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Chase City Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Johnson was born in Charlotte County, VA on October 31, 1932 to the late Otis and Leanna Gayles Bacon. She attended Thyne Institute in Chase City, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg where she sang in the church choir and served as an usher. Mrs. Johnson was a former employee of Hampco Apparel, Inc. in Chase City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Tucker and Emma Wilson, and four brothers, William Ford, Robert Bacon, Freddie Bacon, and Otis Lee Bacon. Cherishing her memories are her husband, Junius Ivory Johnson, Jr. of Chase City; one son, Ivory Michael Johnson (Rachel) of Chase City; three daughters, Phyllis Johnson Twyman and Dr. Yvonne Johnson Doswell both of Richmond and Carolyn Johnson Taylor (Dewey) of Dinwiddie; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, James Bacon (Priscilla); four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Bacon Johnson will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg with Rev. Waverly Brown, Sr. delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
