Leon Hayes Parker

Mr. Leon Hayes Parker, 57, of Durham, NC entered eternal rest Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Durham Regional Hospital, Durham, NC. Mr. Parker was the youngest child born to the late Robert Parker and Alice Idell Fierce Parker in Brooklyn, NY on October 1, 1954.  He graduated from the Wyandanch High School in Wyandanch, (Long Island) New York. After high school he attended New York State University at Farmingdale, for Automotive Technology, before joining the Metropolitan Surface Bus Transit Authority where he worked for a number of years.  In 2002 he relocated from Wyandanch, NY to Henderson, NC, where he began working for Schneider Trucking Company until his health began to fail. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early age at the Browns Memorial Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York and later he attended the Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church in West Babylon, NY.   In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, William N. Parker.  Cherishing his memories are his  mother, Alice Idell Parker of Victoria, VA, a brother, Robert L. Parker of Henderson, NC; two sisters, Anita Ballard-Jones (Joseph) of Henderson, NC, and Anna Jackson of Victoria, VA.  and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.  Funeral services for Mr. Leon Hayes Parker will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church, Victoria, VA with Rev. William Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
