Lee Roy Downey

Mr. Lee Roy Downey, 66, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Downey was born in Halifax, VA on October 31, 1956 to the late Bernice Downey and Earnestine Hunt Downey Nelson. He received his education in the public schools of Mecklenburg County, VA, and attended Bibleway Church of Christ in Boydton. Mr. Downey was a former roofer with Nelson Roofing. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing with his grandchildren, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Downey, and his ex-wife, Janet Bullock.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory two daughters, Tamika Barksdale (O’Brien) and April Bullock both of Clarksville, VA; three grandchildren, Ja’Hayveion Jennings, Kai’Jon Nelson and Sa’Niyah Nelson; two brothers, Ellis Downey and Arthur Downey (Brenda) both of Clarksville, VA; four sisters, Loretta Richardson (Calvin) of Boydton, VA, Katina Nelson and Joann Hunt (Lynn) both of Clarksville, VA and Lois Downey of Henderson, NC; a devoted friend, Chris Boyter, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

A memorial service for Mr. Lee Roy Downey will be held at a later date.
