Mr. Lawrence Yancey, 78, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC. Mr. Yancey was born in Oak City, NC on January 19, 1943 to the late Thomas and Inez Easley Yancey. He was a graduate of West End High School in Skipwith, VA, and was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA. Mr. Yancey was a retired truck driver who enjoyed fishing and listening to his blues music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Yancey was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Felicia Baskerville; grandsons, Christopher Roberts and Tyriek and Tyrell Harris; great-granddaughter, Jayda Jones; three brothers, Thomas, Preston, and Marshall Yancey; a sister, Edna Yancey, and son-in-law, Matthew Harris. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Julia Yancey of Clarksville, VA; son, Thomas Yancey (Toinette) of Stovall, NC; three daughters, Joyce Yancey of Alexandria, VA, and Linda Yancey and Sheronda Yancey Harris both of Clarksville, VA; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Lee Yancey (LaTonda) of Richmond, VA and Charles Yancey (Clara) of Fort Washington, MD; two sisters, Dora Roberts and Mary Gravitt both of Washington, DC, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Services for Mr. Lawrence Yancey will be private. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
