Lauretta Dean Ward

Mrs. Lauretta Dean Ward, 61 of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest Monday, May 5, 2014 at  Centra Southside Community Hospital, Farmville, VA. Mrs. Ward was born in Charlotte County, VA May 31, 1952 to the late Syvilla Barnes. She attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA and was a member of First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA. She enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren, planting flowers and riding with friends. In addition to her her mother, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Cherishing her memories are her husband Alfred Leon Ward Sr. of Wylliesburg, VA; two daughters, Angela Davis (Lamont) of Saxe, VA and Kristina Ward of Manassas, VA; three sons, Alfred Leon Ward Jr. of Saxe, VA, Steven Ward (Cynthia) of Gretna, VA; Chris Ward (Orlanda) of Nathalie, VA; nine grandchildren, Jamarre'a, Jasmin, DaJour, Shaniece, Sentia, Carisa, Alan, Dejuan and Latifah, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Yvonne Roots of Richmond, VA; two aunts, three uncles, her mother-in-law, Lucille Roberts of Wylliesburg, VA; one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, devoted friends Mrytle Osborne, Arlene Staten, Linda and Ronnie Howard and Martha Ellen and a vast  number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Lauretta Dean Ward will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 9, 2014 at First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA with Rev. Earnest Goode, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends Thursday, from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Services 11:00 A.M.
