Mr. Kenneth Hill, 59, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Hill was born December 12, 1948, in Philadelphia, PA to the late Johnnie and Mary Hill. He received his education from West End High School, Mecklenburg County, Virginia and received a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Longwood University, Farmville, Virginia. Mr. Hill served two years in the United States Army as Personnel Specialist. He was employed by Burlington Industries, Inc., Lawson – Wheaton, Inc. and Jones Apparels Group of New York for over 25 years as Supervisor and Department Manager. Mr. Hill was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Chase City, VA, where he was former chairman of deacons. His other affiliations include: former Vice President of West End High School Alumni Association, former Vice President of Chase City Primary School PTA, former Vice President of Chase City Elementary School PTA, organizer and past president of Bluestone Senior High School PTA, former member Board of Directors of HELP Inc., former member of Board of Directors, M.E.C.K., Inc., member Board of Directors Chase City Community Service, Inc., member of Community Memorial Publicity Board, and member of Board of Directors of Thyne Institute Memorial. Mr. Hill’s Masonic affairs include former secretary and Past Master of R.C. Yancey Masonic Lodge #284, reactivated St. John’s Holy Royal Arch Chapter, former treasurer and Past Excellent High Priest, St. John #70 Holy Royal Arch, Past commander-in-chief, Petersburg Consistory #144,Past Illustrious Potentate and Past Deputy of the Oasis, Ku- Wat Temple, Danville/Martinsville, Virginia, Past Imperial at Large, organized Master’s and Warden’s Council 14th Masonic District, District Deputy and Grand Master of the Year for 1992 and 1993, District Deputy Grand Master 14th Masonic District 1986 to 1994, chairman of budget committee Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia 1990 to 1994, member Board of Directors Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia, Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia September 2004 to September 2006, Past Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia. Mr. Hill was also a member of Omicron Omega Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Inc., past KRS of Omicron Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Helen Bacon Hill of Chase City, VA; two daughters, Keesya Renee Hill-Jones (Shawn) of Williamsburg, VA and Yvonne Denise Hill of Charlotte, NC; one grandchild, Jacqueline Renee Jones of Williamsburg, VA; one sister, Debra H. Branch (Ronald) of Voorhees, NJ; two brothers, Johnnie D. Hill (Marsha) of Philadelphia, PA and Stephen R. Hill (Sharon) of San Diego, CA; one aunt, Neicie Fisher of Herndon, VA; his father- in-law, Thomas Bacon; mother-in-law, Anna Lee Bacon of Chase City, VA; two sisters–in–law, Anna M. Gayles (Anthony) of Chase City, VA and Clara Bacon of Clarksville, VA; one brother –in-law, Larry Bacon (Joyce) of Clarksville, VA; an adopted mother, Mrs. Lorane Press of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Hill will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 12, 2008, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 107 West Fifth Street Chase City, VA with Rev. Ricky A. Lee officiating. Burial with military and Masonic rites will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chase City, VA. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
