Mr. Junius Ivory Johnson, Jr., 94, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Johnson was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on August 12, 1930 to the late Junius, Sr. and Anna Hardy Johnson. He attended Wightman School and was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church in Chase City. Mr. Johnson was a retiree of Butler Lumber Company and enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Bacon Johnson; brother, James Johnson; and sister, Rhoena Johnson Brown.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory one son, Ivory Michael Johnson (Rachel) of Chase City, VA; three daughters, Phyllis Johnson Twyman of Chesterfield, VA, Carolyn Johnson Taylor (Dewey) of Church Road, VA, and Dr. Yvonne Johnson Doswell of Lithonia, GA; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Calvin Johnson of Newark, NJ and Leon Johnson of Chase City, VA; two sisters, Elzena Williams of Chase City, VA and Marie A. Crosson (Waverly) of Marietta, GA; brother-in-law, James Bacon (Priscilla); sister-in-law, Elna Bacon, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Waverly Brown, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
