Mrs. Joyce Richardson Davis, 62, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA.
Mrs. Davis was born October 29, 1962 in Boydton, VA to Willie Mae Evans Richardson and the late Deacon Donald Richardson. She was a graduate of Bluestone Senior High School in Skipwith, VA and a member of Jerusalem Temple United Holy Church in Boydton. Mrs. Davis was a retired corrections officer from Mecklenburg Correctional Center. She enjoyed writing poems about her family members, and talking to all of her customers at J. Gill’s convenience store.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Davis, Jr., and one sister, Sheila R. Hargrove.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Rishawn L. Richardson (Jasmine) of Creedmoor, NC; daughter, April M. Boyd (Chris) of Modesto, CA; four grandchildren, Christian Boyd, Joshua Boyd, Landen Richardson and Jazelle Richardson; her mother, Willie Mae Evans Richardson of Boydton, VA; two brothers; Donald Richardson, Jr. (Kimberly) of Richmond, VA and Sherman Richardson, Sr. (Ramona) of Clarksville, VA; one sister, Vanessa R. Greene of Boydton, VA; two aunts, Doris Evans Allen (Elder Charles) and Ruth Richardson; nieces and nephews, Chasity Richardson, Ashley Simmons, Tiffany Hargrove, Jaleesa Hinojosa, Linda Ann Wilson, Sherman Richardson, Jr., Donald Richardson III, Anthony Richardson, James Donald Richardson, Chauncey Evans, Iesha Evans, and Teeasha Evans; special friends, Carolyn “Slim” Evans, Vynette Duncan, and Mary Beth Thomas, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Richardson Davis will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Elder Charles D. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Temple United Holy Church Cemetery, Boydton, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
