Joyce Olivia Williams Watson

Mrs. Joyce Olivia Williams Watson, 77, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, September 4, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Watson was born in Vance County, NC on April 14, 1946 to the late Hubert and Susie Pettiford Williams. She was a graduate of the historic Henderson Institute in Vance County, and furthered her education at Durham Business College. Mrs. Watson was a member of Mt. Mitchell Baptist Church in Drakes Branch, VA, and was formerly employed by Burlington Industries as a computer operations specialist. In her spare time, she enjoyed planting flowers, shopping and reading.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Lee Williams, and sister, Pamela Williams Wilson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband, Franklin Mathew Watson, Sr. of Chase City, VA; two sons, Franklin Mathew Watson, II (Ella) of Clarksville, VA and Eric Fernando Watson (Charmaine) of Chase City, VA; two daughters, Tamala Maria Watson of Petersburg, VA and Aleta Babette Watson of Chase City, VA, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, eight sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Olivia Williams Watson will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Mt. Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. Fran Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
