Mrs. Joyce Ann Osborne Townes, 53, of Richmond, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA. Mrs. Townes was born in South Boston, VA on August 2, 1967 to James F. Osborne and the late Rosa Fields Osborne. At an early age, she joined St. Level Baptist Church in Clarksville, VA. She received her early education from the public schools of Mecklenburg County, and was a 1985 graduate of Bluestone Senior High School in Skipwith, VA. She furthered her education at Southside Virginia Community College, and received her degree in 2003. Mrs. Townes was formerly employed by Jonbil, Inc., Russell Stover Candies and Jones Apparel, Inc. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and taking care of her grandchildren. She married Marshall Townes, Sr., and this union was blessed with two children. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Frank and Vernie Mae Osborne, and maternal grandparents, John and Hattie Fields. She leaves to cherish her memories a son, Marshall Townes, Jr. and daughter, Celeste M. Townes both of Richmond, VA; six grandchildren, Ja’kai M. Townes, Marquis L. Townes, Zy’kel R. Malone, India C. Terry, Zy’Anne M. Townes and Ciani M. Townes; her father, James F. Osborne of Skipwith, VA; two sisters, Christine O. Dokes and Tammy O. Gregory (John) both of Skipwith, VA; special and devoted friend, Oscar Booth, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Public viewing for Mrs. Townes will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
