Joyce Ann Hayes Jones

Mrs. Joyce Ann Hayes Jones, 75, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at her residence.

Mrs. Jones was born in New York City on December 14, 1948 to the late Robert and Elizabeth Hayes. She graduated from Julia Richmond High School in 1967. She relocated to Mecklenburg County, VA in 1979 and worked as a substitute teacher for Mecklenburg County Public Schools and as a Librarian for Butler Memorial Library for 27 years. Mrs. Jones was a member of Berean Baptist Church where she served as President of the Usher Board, worked avidly with the children’s choir, and served as the Church Clerk. She was well known for her open heart, love of books, and extreme generosity.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton and Gerald; sister, Mildred, and grandson, Jarrett.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years, Larry Jones; three children, Corey Jones (Sharon) of Tom’s River, NJ, DeAnna Valentine (Anthony) of Hampton, VA and Kimberly Fagade (Odunayo) of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, MaKayla, Daria, Ethan, Aniya, Jordan, Justis, Samuel, and Eliza; great-grandchildren, Zara and Zayvion; brother, Kevin Hayes (Olive)  of New York, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce A. Jones will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Berean Baptist Church, Chase City with Rev. Marvin Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
