Josephine Short

Mrs. Josephine Hilliard Short, 85, of Arlington, VA and formerly of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at her residence. Mrs. Short was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on September 9, 1930 to the late Willie and Madeline Burnett Hilliard.  She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and relocated to Arlington, VA in the 1960’s, where she worked for Culpepper Gardens Senior Residential Community for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Short; her oldest son, Earl Lee Short; four brothers, James, Marion, Willie Jr. and Linwood Hilliard and one sister, Mary Davis. Cherishing her memories are three sons, Albert Lee Short (Diane), Harold Tucker and Richard Tucker (Diane) all of Arlington, VA; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Thelma Adamson of Queens, NY; two brothers, Rudolph Hilliard of Clarksville, VA and Randolph Hilliard of Williamsboro, NC; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Short; three sisters-in-law, devoted niece, Emma Lee Singleton of Pennsylvania; special friend, Thelma McCall and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A Graveside Funeral Service for Mrs. Josephine Hilliard Short will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at Wharton Memorial Garden, Nelson with Rev. Dr. James A. Hudson, Jr. officiating. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by C.H.
