Joseph Benny Barnes

Mr. Joseph Benny Barnes (JD), 70, of Richmond, VA and formerly of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, January 17, 2008.Mr. Barnes was born in Shelby, NC February 10, 1937 to the late Lugene Osborne Barnes. He attended school in Chase City, VA. Later in life he moved to Richmond, VA where he was employed by Phillip Morris. He was married to Carolyn Barnes and was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Barbara Ann and Julie.Cherishing his memories are two sons; Clarence Edward and Larry Barnes both of Richmond, VA; two daughters, Brenda Barnes and Tonita Clark both of Richmond, VA; seven step-children, Catrina Nappier, Andrea Hankins, Lisa Clark, Robert Clark III, Kimberly Tucker, Jamal Clark and Erica Clark-Brooks; numerous grandchildren, three sisters, Helen Funnye (Jerome) of Newark, NJ, Eveline Walker and Shirley Barnes (Lewis) all of Chase City, VA; two brothers, William H. Barnes (Earline) of Chase City, VA, and Sylvester Barnes (Eileen) of Elizabeth, NJ and a vast number of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends.Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Benny Barnes (JD) will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
