Johnette Pulliam Staten

Mrs. Johnette Pulliam Staten, 74, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at her residence.

Mrs. Staten was born in Charlotte County, VA on May 16, 1950 to the late John and Lillie Clark Pulliam. She attended the public schools of Charlotte County and at an early age joined Rocky Branch Baptist Church. She would later join First Baptist Church in Wylliesburg. Mrs. Staten entered the workforce at an early age and gained employment with Russell Stover Candies in Clarksville for 28 years until their closure. She was a retiree of Revlon in Oxford, NC with 18 years of service. Johnette was a kindhearted person who enjoyed dancing, watching Wheel of Fortune, and her word puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Staten, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory three children, Albert E. Brooks (Anita) of Farmville, VA, Tyrone Staten (Sherrie) of Richmond, VA and Jenet D. Staten Reed of Saxe, VA; five grandchildren, Shana Friend, Kenisha and Tyrell Staten, Quadre J. Pulliam and Malik Staten; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Whitehead of Saxe, VA, Creola Hundley of Kalamazoo, MI and Ozelia Olushala of Chicago; uncle, John Elliot (Penny) of Danville, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnette Pulliam Staten will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will begin on Thursday from 1:00 P. M. until 1:45 P. M.
