John Thomas Penick, Sr.

Mr. John Thomas Penick, Sr., 81, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Penick was born April 26, 1939 in Charlotte County, VA to the late John and Annie Snead Penick. He attended the schools of Charlotte County, VA, and was a dedicated member of Harpers Temple Apostolic Church in Clarksville, VA. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting guns. In addition to his parents, Mr. Penick was preceded in death by his wife, Odell Harris Penick; two children, Joann and John Penick, Jr.; grandchild, Ja’Kiya Edmonds, and five siblings, Pearl, Thelma, Mamie, Elsie and Joe. Cherishing his loving memories are four children, Dorothy Penick, Dora Evans (Willie), Brenda Penick (Ray) and Eddie Penick all of Chase City, VA; 16 grandchildren including special grandson, Antwan Hester; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Jessie Penick; two sisters-in-law, Mary Shields and Marie Redd, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside service for Mr. John Thomas Penick, Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Harpers Temple Apostolic Church Cemetery, Clarksville, VA with Pastor Delores W. Dillard-Davis officiating. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
