John Lewis Boyd, Sr.

Mr. John Lewis Boyd, Sr., 65, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. Mr. Boyd was born in Mecklenburg County, VA October 18, 1948 to the late Albert and Lillie Bacon Boyd.  He received his education in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools and was a member of Silone Baptist Church. He was formerly employed by Love and Associates before starting his driving career with Huss Trucking and McGuire Trucking Company. He also worked for FedEx in maintenance until his health began to fail. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Lewis Boyd and two sisters, Roberta White and Betty Hayes. Cherishing his memories are two sons, Christopher Lewis Boyd (April) of Durham, NC and John Lewis Boyd, Jr. of Chase City, VA; two grandsons, Cristian Lamar and Joshua Isaiah of Durham, NC; one brother, Albert Boyd, Jr. of Chase City VA; one sister; Nannie B. Allen (Ronnie) of Chase City VA; devoted nieces and nephews, Shirley Toombs (Floyd) of Chase City, VA, Curtis Hayes of Richmond, VA, Larry Hayes of Alpharetta, GA and Patricia Boyd of Baltimore, MD; loving companion, Teresa Berrier of Ruther Glen, VA; devoted friend, Charlie Carawan of Ruther Glen, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. John Lewis Boyd, Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 21, 2014 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer, officiating.  Burial will follow in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Chase City, VA.  Public viewing for family and friends will be held Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Service 11:00 A.M.
