John Henry Williams, Jr.

Mr. John Henry Williams, Jr., 76, of Wakefield, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA. Mr. Williams was born July 30, 1945, in Chase City, VA to John Henry Williams, Sr. and Emma Williams. He was a 1963 graduate of West End High School. He joined the United States Army where he would ascend to the rank of Staff Sergeant E-6 as a supply specialist. Mr. Williams earned his jump wings as a member of the 82nd Airborne Paratrooper Unit. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he joined the New Jersey National Guard and began working for Public Service Enterprise Group as a pipe fitter, retiring in 2011 with over 40 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, watching sports and old western movies which were his favorite. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Williams and his daughter, Vanessa Darcell Williams. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his children, Donna Faye Williams, Terrell Dee Williams and Lamonte Fitzgerald Williams; daughter-in-law, Jennifer A. Williams; grandchildren, Brandon L. Williams, Terrell L. Williams, Quari J. Williams, Aaron Williams, Christopher Williams, Lamontee T. Williams, Latrell J. Williams, Gianna Jackson, Tiara Smith and Avanti Barnett; great-grandchildren, Quincy T. Williams, Davonti Conley, Christopher Williams, Jr., Elijah Smith, Dannie Wright, and La-Yanna Smith; siblings, Leroy Williams, Charles Williams, Loretta Baker, Maxine Ellison, Ernestine Bennett, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services with limited seating of 50 for Mr. John Henry Williams, Jr. will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 10, 2022 in the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Waverly Brown officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Public viewing will begin on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. Mask are required to be worn for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
