Mr. John Edward Watts, 56, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, February 15, 2008 at Southside Community Hospital, Farmville, VA.Mr. Watts was born in Chase City, VA July 8, 1951 to the late Archie and Parthenia Jones Watts. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a truck driver in the logging business prior to his health failing. He was a member of Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA and a U.S. Army veteran. He was first married to Linda Smith, and this union was blessed with two children.Cherishing his memories is his wife, Mildred Williams Watts of Keysville, VA; three children, Michelle Cypress (Anthony) and Tracey Roberts all of Chase City, VA, and Consuelo Watts of Durham, NC; ten stepchildren; six grandchildren, Ceonte Watts, Roderick Bass, Teonia Watts, Alisha Bass, Kaniesha Bass and Cierra Roberts; four brothers, Joseph Watts (Sandra)of East Orange, NJ, Charlie Watts of Chase City, VA, Jimmy Gayles and Willie Watts of New York; six sisters, Louise Roberts and Mary Eliza Branch both of Chase City, VA, Naomi Bouldin of Victoria, VA, Gloria Fowlkes of Woodbridge, VA, Janice Smith (Leroy) and Janie Bacon (Lester) all of New York and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.Funeral services for Mr. John Edward Watts will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Fran Jackson, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Mitchell Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at the Giles-Harris Funeral Home.Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
