Mr. John Earl Lewis, 85, of Buffalo Junction, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, October 7, 2019 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. Mr. Lewis, affectionately known as “Bruh” or “Uncle Bruh”, was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on March 22, 1934 to the late Alexander and Anna Bell Hargrove Lewis. He was a graduate of West End High School in Skipwith VA, and furthered his education at John Hopkins School of Nursing, beginning his career in nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mr. Lewis was member of Antioch United Church of Christ in Townsville, NC. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, baseball, and playing his guitar. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Brummell Lewis; one daughter, Andrea LaTonya Jackson; three brothers, Leroy, Henry and James Lewis, and three sisters, Ruth Boyd, Julia Willis and Mary Pines. Cherishing his memories are one daughter, Eleanor D. Johnson (Bruce) of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel Lewis of Clarksville, VA; four sisters, Alice Ellis, Barbara Paylor, Jessie Ramnath and Beatrice McGlotten; one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. John Earl Lewis will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 14, 2019 at Antioch United Church of Christ, Townsville, NC with Rev. Gregory Milton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 12:00 noon until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
