John D. (Mustache) Harris

Mr. John Damon Harris, "Mustache", entered into eternal rest Friday, October 16, 2020 at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, Virginia at the age of 81. Mr. Harris was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on November 20, 1938, one of seven children born to the late Walter and Helen Ogburn Harris. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Willie Harris. He leaves to cherish his fond memories five siblings; Judith Harris Freeman of Chase City, Virginia, Christine Harris Barlow of Richmond, Virginia, Helen Harris Barnes (David) of Chase City, Virginia, Ray Donald Harris (Iva) of Sicklerville, New Jersey and Edith Harris Walker (James) of Garner, North Carolina; one uncle, Charles Moses Gray (Juliet) of South Hill, Virginia; one aunt, Sadie Gray Pickney of Newark, New Jersey; adopted niece, Lisa Dodson, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends; a special friend, Barbara Roberts of Chase City, Virginia. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, Virginia with Rev. Marvin Harris, officiating. Due to Covid-19, seating will be limited, a mask will be required for services, and we ask that you practice social distancing. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
