John Anderson Simmons

Mr. John Anderson Simmons, 59, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Mr. Simmons, affectionately known as “Johnny Cake”, was born in Boydton, VA on June 23, 1962 to Alice Baskerville Simmons and the late Willie Thomas Simmons. He attended Bluestone Senior High School in Skipwith, VA, and was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Boydton. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his bicycle and hanging with his friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Simmons; a grandchild, Janari Johnson, and his sister, Willis Rebecca Simmons. He leaves to cherish his loving memory a son, Jonathan Johnson of Rougemont, NC; two daughters, Ebony Singleton and Chante Rene Nelson; three grandchildren, Ay’Onna, Ava and Alayna; his mother, Alice Baskerville Simmons of Boydton, VA; three brothers, William Baskerville (Kimberly) of Front Royal, VA, Anthony Simmons of Richmond, VA and Timothy Simmons of Clarksville, VA; two aunts, two uncles, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside services for Mr. John Anderson Simmons will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery, Boydton, VA with Rev. Toney Smith officiating. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Mask are required to be worn for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
