Joan (Midge) L. Ryer

Mrs. Joan L. Ryer “Midge”, 79 of Kenbridge, VA entered eternal rest Friday, July 20, 2012 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. Mrs. Ryer was born in Yonkers, NY January 25, 1933 to the late Finley and Charlotte Thompson Burton. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the South Hill VFW, a volunteer at Community Memorial Healthcenter, a member of the Senior Bowling League of Henderson, NC; and a member of Community Sunset Temple #132 IBPOEW Daughters, and PSP Circle of West Rockland County. Mrs. Ryer was a retired Royal Coach School bus Driver. In addition to her parents Mrs. Ryer was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Ryer, one son, Anthony Burton, and one sister, Ruth Parker. Cherishing her memories are one daughter, Charlotte M. Ryer (James Green) of South Hill, VA; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Viewing for Mrs. Ryer will be Tuesday, July 24, from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mrs. Ryer will be forwarded to New York for funeral services and entombment. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
