Jessie Keene

Mr. Jessie Keene, 79, of Richmond, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, VA.

Mr. Keene, affectionately known as “Chunk”, was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on April 3, 1943 to the late Floyd and Fannie Smith Keene. He attended the public schools of Mecklenburg County, and was a graduate of West End High School, Clarksville, VA. He attended Bluestone Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA, and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Keene was formerly employed by Richfood (Supervalu) in Richmond, VA, retiring after 33 years of dedicated service.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Keene was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret White and his brother, Floyd Keene, Jr. (Spookie).

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of 57 years, LaVerne Goode Keene of Richmond; one son, Jeffrey G. Keene of Richmond; his siblings, Barbara Smithson (James) and Vanessa Haskins (Keith) both of Chase City, Ruth Pride (Tim) of Saxe, and Brenda Downey (Arthur) of Clarksville; two God-sons, Ike McCallistin and Victor Gonzales; God-daughter, Jannis Hawkins, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Jessie Keene will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 29, 2022 in the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City with Rev. Dennis King officiating. Interment will be private. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
