Mr. Jessie James Craighead, Jr., 69, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at his residence.
Mr. Craighead, affectionately known by his CB handle “Nature Boy”, was born in Charlotte County, VA on May 21, 1955 to the late Jessie and Beatrice Craighead. He attended the public schools of Charlotte County and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Drakes Branch where he faithfully served on the Usher Board, Male Chorus and drove the church van. Mr. Craighead was a retired truck driver with 45 years of service. He was previously employed by Triple E, Huss and McGuire Trucking. In his spare time, he enjoyed cleaning his home and truck, watching wrestling on his phone, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Gracie High Craighead; a daughter, Jacquline Olivia Craighead; sisters, Lisa, Sandra and Rosa Craighead, and a brother, Anthony Craighead.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his children, Maggie Evans (Ronnie) of Wylliesburg, VA, Michael Craighead (Keisha) and Alfred Craighead both of Red Oak, VA; stepchildren, Sonya Craighead, Oscar Mosley, David Mosley, Wayne Mosley, Don Mosley, Steven Mosley, Wanda Woodal and Vivian Mosley; grandchildren, LaShonda Taylor and Alexis Wilson; great-grandchildren, Nova and JaQuan Kearney; brothers, John Craighead (Sharon) of Saxe, VA, Alphonzo Craighead of Arlington, VA, Quentin Craighead of Keysville, VA and Clarence Craighead, Donald Craighead (Sonya), Keith Craighead (Beverly) and Tyrone Craighead (Tiffany) all of Drakes Branch, VA; sisters, Mary Price of Wylliesburg, VA, Diana McCraw (Larry) of Scottsburg, VA, Audrey Banks (Michael) of Keysville, VA, Dorothy Ward of Drakes Branch, VA, Mary McCullough of Guyton, GA and Sarah Venable, Tracey Craighead and Deborah Hill all of South Boston, VA; his ex-wife, Thelma Boyd-Craighead, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Jessie James Craighead, Jr. will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 18, 2024 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. John Lewis Craighead delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
