Jerry Alonzo Elam

Mr. Jerry Alonzo Elam, 63, of Chase City, VA departed this life on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston, VA. Mr. Elam was born in Halifax County, VA on May 28, 1956 to the late Leonard and Gladys Elam. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA, and was a member of St. Level Baptist Church in Clarksville, VA. He began his career as a certified mechanic at Tucker-Bevell dealership. After attending Southside Virginia Community College in the early 80's, he then began driving trucks for Western Express. Mr. Elam was a member of the Gospel Sensationals where he played bass. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories a loving wife, Marion Mallory Elam of Chase City, VA; two children, Tiffany of Nashville, TN and Neil (Sabrynn) of Hanover, MD; two brothers, Leonard Elam and Dwight Elam (Diane) all of Chase City, VA; three sisters-in-law, Cora Tucker, Charlene Haskins, and Diane Elam; three brothers-in-law, Melvin Mallory, Synder Mallory, and Steven Mallory, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Alonzo Elam will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 21, 2019 at St. Level Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA with Rev. Toney W. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
