Mr. Jerome Carter, 71, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at his residence.
Mr. Carter, affectionately known as “Tyrome”, was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on July 21, 1952 to the late Albert “Maxie and Irma Jones Carter. He was a graduate of Bluestone High School in Skipwith, VA and attended Southside Virginia Community College. Mr. Carter was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church in Clarksville, and a retiree of Mecklenburg Correctional Center. He was a lifelong brick mason, and a United States Army Veteran. In his spare time, he enjoyed drag racing, playing cards, cutting grass, sports and trash talking.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by one sister, Jacqueline Brown.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory two sons, Jeffrey Carter of Greenwood, IN and Ron Carter of Ellicott City, MD; two daughters, Toya Carter of Raleigh, NC and Tina Carter of Clarksville, VA; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred Carter, Sr. and Michael Carter both of Clarksville, VA, two sisters, Christine Thornton of Danville, VA and Angela Alford of Chesterfield, VA, one sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Jerome Carter will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Mack Talley, officiating. Burial will follow in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
