Ja’Vantay S. Wilkins

Mr. Ja’Vantay S. Wilkins, age 18, departed this life far too soon on Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Chesterfield, VA. Mr. Wilkins was born in Petersburg, VA on June 18, 2003 to Evette Bacon and Robert Wilkins. He was a 2021 graduate of L.C. Bird High School in Chesterfield, VA. Upon graduation, he was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Emberlyn Andrea with his fiancé Justice. He took his new role as a father very seriously, working two full time jobs to support his family. He was employed full-time by Proseal Manufacturing Co as a Tooling Assembly Technician and part-time with Discount Tires. He studied Taekwondo, earning the accomplished rank of a red belt. Mr. Wilkins enjoyed basketball, soccer, video games and trips to Chase City to visit his grandmother and cousins. He was a friendly, fun-loving and caring son, brother, nephew and father who was known for always lending a helping hand. Ja’Vantay’s courageous and outgoing spirit will be truly missed by all that knew him. Mr. Wilkins was recently preceded in death by his grandmother, Rebecca Lee Bacon. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Emberlyn Wilkins; mother, Evette D. Del Valle (Juan) of North Chesterfield, VA; father, Robert Wilkins of Rocky Mount, NC; brothers, Demetrius Wilkins of the home and Michael Del Valle of Chesterfield, VA; sisters, Ma’Laychus Wilkins of Rocky Mount, NC, Ma’Teyana Wilkins of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Adrianne Del Valle of Chesterfield, VA; uncles, Freddie Bacon, Jr. (Mechelle) of Scottsburg, VA and Corey Wilkins of Manassas, VA; aunts, Janice Whitley of Sharpsburg, NC and Angela Bugg-Bacon of South Hill, VA; three nephews and two nieces; paternal grandparents, Robert and Thelma Wilkins; special cousins, Danielle and Rodney Easley; a loving fiancé, Justice West, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Ja’Vantay S. Wilkins will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Friday, May 6, 2022 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Public viewing will held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
