Mr. James Richmond, Jones, 93, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the Hunter Holmes Hospice Unit at McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Richmond, VA. Mr. Jones was born July 19, 1913 in Warfield, VA to the late Nedham and Susie Johnson Jones. He received his education in the Brunswick County Public School System, was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Masonic World Order. He also was a member of Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church, Chase City, where he was a member of the choir and a trustee. He was a WWII Army veteran. Throughout life James had many occupations. He was a touring vocalist at home and abroad. In New Jersey he briefly owned two tailor shops and a restaurant. After 24 years of service he retired from the New Jersey Public School System.He was preceded in death by one son, Aaron Thaxton Jones.Cherishing his memories is his wife, Juanita Jones of Chase City, VA; two sons, James Ronald Jones of Montclair, NJ and Stanley Arnold Jones of Chase City, VA; one daughter, Jennifer Jones Woody of Chase City, VA; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, five sisters-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. James Richmond Jones will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 12, 2007 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Revs. Sylvester and Beverly Bullock, officiating. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7 until 8 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
