Mr. James Quincey Beattie, age 80, of Skipwith, VA transitioned from this earthly life on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. Mr. Beattie was born in Chase City, VA on April 30, 1939 to the late Thomas Jefferson Beattie and Etta Mae Seamster Beattie. He attended West End High School in Skipwith, VA, and was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Mr. Beattie was a former mechanic for Russell Stover Candies in Clarksville, VA. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar and keyboard, and fixing things. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beattie was preceded in death by three sons, six sisters and eight brothers. Left to cherish his loving memory are his wife, Ola Barbara Ann Beattie of Skipwith, VA; one son, Carl Beattie of Roanoke, VA; four daughters, Frances Beattie of South Hill, VA and Emma Long (Calvin), Viola Brooks and Renail Atkins (Linwood) all of Chase City, VA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Larry Beattie of Clarksville, VA, Clarence Atkinson (Rebecca) and Timothy Beattie all of Skipwith, VA; three sisters, Virginia Jackson of Chase City, VA, Helen Royster of Clarksville, VA and Shirley Parker (Joe) of Lynchburg, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. James Quincey Beattie will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 6, 2019 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA. Burial will follow in the Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
