James "Jim" Wardrick, Sr.

Mr. James Wardrick “Jim”, 86, of Newark, NJ and formerly of Boydton, VA entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 22, 2021. Mr. Wardrick was born in Boydton, VA March 6, 1935 to the late George and Lucy Wardrick. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA. Upon graduating James relocated to Newark, NJ. He was a 35 year employee of Peter Pan Industries of which he retired in 2000. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, Newark, NJ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wardrick was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Odessa; his sister, Elois Webb; brothers, George, Lawrence, Elbert, Leroy, Fred and Roosevelt Wardrick. He leaves to cherish precious memories his son, James Wardrick, Jr. of Suwanee, GA; two nephews he raised, Herbert Hick of Conyers, GA and Theodore Zanders (Jackie) of Albany, NY; sisters-in-law, Mary Zanders and Louise Hicks of Bunn Level, NC, Rebecca Wardrick of Newark, NJ, Emma Wardrick of Louisburg, NC, Beverly Johnson of Baltimore, MD and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Anthony Alston, Sr. delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Easter Cemetery, Boydton, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will begin 11:00 A.M. Tuesday. A mask will be required for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
