James Harvey Parrish

Mr. James Harvey Parrish, 68, of Richmond, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Hunter Holmes McGuire Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mr. Parrish was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on June 26, 1954 to the late James Leonard and Annie Bell Hutcheson Parrish . He was a graduate of Park View High School, Class of 1973. Mr. Parrish furthered his education at Essex County College in Newark, NJ. He previously attended Harpers Temple Apostolic Church in Clarksville, VA, and was formerly employed with various manufacturing jobs. Mr. Parrish was a United States Navy Veteran, and a diehard Cowboys fan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Smith Parrish. He leaves to cherish his loving memory four sons, Abdul Washington (Regina) of Chase City, VA, James Washington of Durham, NC, Travis Washington of Racine, WI and Derrick Parrish of Richmond, VA; two daughters, Quatina Clark (Tremayne) of Bullock, NC and Kimberly Parrish of Greensboro, NC; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Cornell Parrish (Louise) of East Orange, NJ, Lucious Parrish and Leon Parrish both of Chase City, VA, Willie Parrish (Dorothy) of Boydton, VA and Michael Parrish of High Point, NC; three sisters, Ernestine Parrish, Alma Smith (William) and Theila Parrish all of Chase City, VA; one uncle, Wilson Gregory (Vickie), and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. James Harvey Parrish will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Sunday, August 7, 2022 in the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Minister Frank Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and chapel services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
