Mr. James Grafton Yancey, 83, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Yancey was born in Buffalo Junction, VA on April 20, 1934 to the late Thomas Edmond and Rosa Lee Clark Yancey. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a 1951 graduate of West End High School. Mr. Yancey was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church, Buffalo Junction, VA where he served on the Usher Board and as a Trustee. He was formerly employed by J. P. Stevens and Russell Stover Candies, Inc. as a security guard and was a United States Air Force veteran. In addition to his parents, Mr. Yancey was preceded in death by seven siblings, Richard, Charles and Thomas Yancey, Joe Louis Watkins, Willieann Baker, Joyelette Yancey and Nannie Giddiens. Cherishing his memories are one sister-in-law, Shirley Yancey; three nephews, Bruce, Rodney and Edmond Yancey; three nieces, Marian Yancey, Rosemarie Baker and Jeanette Guess; devoted friends, John Garner, George Newton and Mary Phillips and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. James Grafton Yancey will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 26, 2017 at C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Darryl T. Howard, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Mark Bapt. Church Cemetery, Buffalo Junction, VA. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
