James Edward Small

Mr. James Edward Small, 63, of Nelson, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Small was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on July 4, 1957 to the late James Rogers Terry and Sadie Lee Small Marrow. He attended West End High School in Skipwith, VA, and was a former Mecklenburg County School bus driver. Mr. Small was also previously employed by Adams Tank Company and Camp Chemical. He enjoyed riding horses, farming, his dog, listening to music, and spending time on his front porch with his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Small was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Plummer Marrow; brother, James Rogers Terry, Jr. and three sisters, Queen E. Terry, Temiches Wilkerson and Beulah Mae Terry. He leaves to cherish is loving memories his wife, Shirley Small of Nelson, VA; four sons, Calvin Terry and Michael Terry both of Buffalo Junction, VA, Christopher Terry, Sr. of Nelson, VA and James B. Small of Hillsborough, NC; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ronald Terry (Rhonda) of Nathalie, VA, Ronnie Marrow (Nikki) of Nelson, VA, James P. Marrow, Jr. of Washington, DC and Quincy Terry (Rekeitha) of South Carolina; four sisters, Patsy Small of Skipwith, VA, Tenia McBee of Nelson, VA, Sandra Hayes of Skipwith, VA and Bettie McNeil (Roosevelt) of Brandywine, MD, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside service for Mr. James Edward Small will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the Marrow-Small Family Cemetery, Nelson, VA with Rev. Darryl Howard, Sr. officiating. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
