James Edward Barnette Sr.

Mr. James Edward Barnette Sr., 78, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, June 1, 2006 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA.Mr. Barnette was born in Mecklenburg County, VA September 12, 1927 to the late James and Ellen Barnette He received his education in the Mecklenburg County School System and was a retired truck driver for Huss Inc. , with over 35 year of service.He was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA were he was a member of the male chorus and chairman of the Trustee Board, he served faithfully until his illness would no longer let him.Cherishing his memories is his wife Mary of Chase City, VA; four sons, Larry, Kenneth, and James Jr. all of Richmond, VA and Charles of Colonial Heights, VA; two daughters, Joyce Alexander of Chase City, VA and Peggy Smith of Ettrick, VA; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren three daughters-in-law, Bernadette, Joyce and Veronica; two sons-in-law, Charles Alexander and James Smith three sisters-in-law, Glinis Barnette, Mildred Fuller, and Betty Oliver; two brothers-in-law, Willie Oliver and Odell Fuller and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.Funeral services for Mr. James Edward Barnette Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 19, 2006 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. E. Douglas Reams, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
