James Cleveland Allen

Mr.  James Cleveland Allen, better known as “Sap” 63, of Alexandria, VA and formerly of Skipwith, VA entered eternal rest Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at Inova Alexandria Hospital, Alexandria, VA. Mr. Allen was born in Skipwith, VA January 26, 1946 to the late Cleveland and Lila Phillips Allen. He was a 1964 graduate of West End High School and a member of St. Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA. Mr. Allen was employed with Circle K stores in Alexandria, VA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. and a recipient of the Purple Heart and was recently awarded the Presidential Memorial Certificate. Cherishing his memories is one son, Orenthal James Allen (Brandee) of Alexandria, VA; one granddaughter, Jadeen Allen of Springfield, VA; one sister, Barbara Allen Harrison (Edward) of Virginia Beach, VA; one brother, Elder Charles D. Allen (Doris) of Clarksville, VA; four aunts, Louise Allen of Newark, NJ, Ethel Allen Harris of Skipwith, VA, Mary Allen Brown of Petersburg, VA, and Myrtle Allen of New York, NY; one uncle, Willie Allen  of Bridgeport, CT; thee nieces, Andrea A. Bell (Thomas) of Virginia Beach, VA, Charlotte A. Lewis (Marcus) of Clarksville, VA and LaShwan M. York (Michael) of Sandston, NC and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. James Cleveland Allen will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at St. Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with his brother Elder Charles D. Allen delivering the eulogy. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening form 6 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
