James Albert Walker

Mr. James A. Walker, 85, of South Hill and formerly of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Hundley Center in South Hill, VA. Mr. Walker was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on March 16, 1937 to the late Alfrata Agnes and James Watkin Walker. He received his formal education in the Mecklenburg County public school system. He was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church in Chase City, VA. Mr. Walker was a former brick mason in New Jersey, retiring after 40 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lyons Walker; daughter, Stephanie Pulliam, and granddaughter, Tasha Roberts. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Sherri Roberts (Connell) of Chase City, VA, Wanda Smith (Mark) of Skipwith, VA, Lisa Stacey of Maryland and Daryl Walker of New Jersey; twelve grandchildren, Tia, Carlton, Antwan, Lamar, Shermir, Shawn, Christopher, Chelsea, Courtney, Cailyn, Marcus and D’Renna; five great-grandchildren, Jayla, Jakai, Keanze, Jalen and Zy’aire; devoted nephew, Lewis Lindo, Jr.; his extended family, Linda Walker, Stephanie Fears and Keith Gholston, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. James A. Walker will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA. Interment will follow in Easters Cemetery, Boydton, VA. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and chapel services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
